After stepping down as Rotterdam’s music director and joining New York Metropolitan Opera Yannick Nézet-Séguin will no longer be seen often in Europe. But he continues his appearances with the orchestra, as honorary conductor. His first concert in that new role opens with Mahler’s searing Totenfeier, the original version of his Second Symphony. The main work is a rare performance of Shostakovich’s poignant and profoundly human Thirteenth, with Mikhail Petrenko as the best conceivable soloist.More information
