Sunday, 25 February 2018Théâtre des Champs-ElyséesChopiniana named after Chopin also called Les Sylphides is one of Mikhaïl Fokine’s master pieces. Fokine drew his musical inspiration from the wistful melodies and lilting rhythms of Chopin’s waltzes, mazurkas, and preludes. This short and romantic ballet where The sylphides - magical figures - dance with the "poet" in search of the ideal, is the first plotless ballet ever choreographed.
Paquita provides a superb example of «French» style exported to Russia with its Grand Pas Classique. Originally this two-act ballet, has been created in 1846 at the Paris Opera. Today, the Saint Petersburg Ballet Theater is presenting Paquita with its numerous solos while offering audiences a presentation rich in classical ballet history.More info
